It Aims at Hino's 20th Consecutive Finish since Its First Entry.
HINO TEAM SUGAWARA Will Participate in Dakar 2011
Hino Motors, Ltd. (Hino) will jointly compete in the Dakar 2011 to be held in January 2011, with TEAM SUGAWARA led by the father-and-son driver team Yoshimasa Sugawara and Teruhito Sugawara as in the previous rally. Hino will be in charge of manufacturing, transportation, and services, by receiving various refined and experienced technologies and know-how from TEAM SUGAWARA to renew its unprecedented record of rally entries.
The team's objectives are to accomplish a monumental achievement in rally history by completing Hino's 20th consecutive entry and finish since its first participation in 1991, to achieve a top-class result in the overall Truck Division in which there are many powerful vehicles with large engine displacement and extensive modifications, and to win in the challenge under 10 liters. The team will take all possible measures to give Truck 1 (driven by Yoshimasa Sugawara) its revenge for being disqualified last year; for example, by testing the vehicles at high altitude courses in Mongolia in August. *
The rally completion rate of the Dakar 2010 was 52%. Hino wishes to demonstrate the comprehensive capability of the Hino Group throughout the world, by verifying and ascertaining the vehicles' high drivability, reliability, and durability in the rally whose level of severity is getting higher year after year.
