Hino Celebrates a Line-Off at the Plant in Mexico

Hino Motors Manufacturing Mexico, S.A. DE C.V. (HMMM), a subsidiary of Hino Motors, Ltd. (Hino) in Mexico which has been producing (assembling) the “Hino 500 Series (*1)” vehicles since September 2009, held a line-off ceremony on the 14th of October local time (the 15th of October, Japan time) to mark the start of production in the new plant in Silao-city, State of Guanajuato.

Attendees at the large line-off ceremony included the Governor of Guanajuato State Juan Manuel Oliva Ramirez, the Mayor of Silao Juan Roberto Tovar Torres, the Japanese Ambassador to Mexico Masaaki Ono; and other distinguished guests from the Mexican government, local business partners and groups, including Hino President Yoshio Shirai and HMMM President Yasuo Koshie from the Hino Group.

Hino positions Latin America, including Mexico, as an important market. Hino first advanced into the Mexican market with the sale of the “Hino 300 Series (*2)” vehicles, its light-duty trucks, by “Hino Motors Sales Mexico, S.A. DE C.V.” (HIMEX), its sales company since 2007. Hino started its first local assembly in Latin America at “Hino Motors Manufacturing Colombia, S.A.” (HMMC), its production and sales company in Colombia since November last year, from which it started supplying the Hino trucks to Colombia and Ecuador. The plant in Mexico is Hino’s second manufacturing base in Latin America.

The new plant in Mexico produces Hino trucks with high reliability and supplies them to all the local markets. HMMM will gradually expand its production scale and contribute to the development of the Mexican automobile industry, logistics, and local society, together with HIMEX.
