Hino Motors expands the lineup of Hino Profia heavy-duty trucks equipped with the Pre-Crash Safety braking system for the reduction of collision damage

Hino Motors, Ltd. (“Hino”) has expanded the lineup of Hino Profia models equipped with the Pre-Crash Safety*1 braking system for the reduction of rear-end collision damage, the world’s first*2 for heavy-duty trucks, and launched sales today.

In February of this year, Hino began releasing some Hino Profia heavy-duty truck models equipped with the Pre-Crash Safety system, which quickly detects the possibility of a rear-end collision, sounds an alarm and activates the brakes, as standard equipment. An additional thirteen models, including trucks with the high-roof cabs and short cabs and with 7-speed manual transmissions, are being released on the market at this time with the system as standard equipment in response to wide-ranging requests from customers.

The Pre-Crash Safety system is an advanced safety system that judges the risk of a collision involving vehicles or obstacles on the roadway ahead, it will emit a warning tone ,show a warning indication on the display in the meter, and apply the brakes weakly to alert the driver. If the driver does not respond by applying the brakes, the system judges that there is a likelihood of a rear-end collision, applies the brakes hard to reduce the collision speed so as to minimize the damage.

As safety frontrunner, Hino will continue promoting the development of advanced safety technology, its incorporation in products and dissemination with the aim of realizing “zero traffic fatalities,” the ultimate demand of mobility society.
