Hino Motors introduces HINO medium-duty trucks into Korea through Scania sales network
Hino Motors, Ltd. (Hino) will start to sell HINO medium-duty trucks from April through Scania Korea Ltd.(Scania Korea) which is a subsidiary of Swedish commercial vehicle manufacturer Scania AB (Scania).Prior to start of sales in April, Scania Korea held a launching ceremony yesterday at Walkerhill hotel in Seoul. Approx. 20 presses, fleet owners and Scania dealers were invited to the launching ceremony with attendance of Mr. Holgesson, Group Vice President of Scania, Mr. Hagiwara, Executive Vice President of Hino and Mr. Lee, Managing Director of Scania Korea.
HINO medium-duty trucks which will be introduced into Korean market are based on Payload 4.5ton HINO Ranger FD and modified for adaptation to Korean regulations such as left hand drive and emission control. Hino and Scania will start to sell the products through Scania Korea’s 22 dealers in April and projected sales volume is 300 units in the 1st year and 1,000 and more in the 3rd year.
In March 2002, a co-operation agreement, in the area of joint marketing and exchanges of knowledge and experience within R&D and production, was concluded between Hino and Scania. Hino has already marketed Scania tractor in the Japanese market since September 2003. This is a first case that Hino products are marketed by Scania through Scania sales network.
