HMM Holds Arkansas Plant Grand Opening CeremonyHino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A. Inc. (HMM), a U.S. manufacturing subsidiary of Hino Motors, Ltd. (Hino), held a grand opening ceremony at the site of their Arkansas Plant (Marion, Arkansas) at 11 a.m. on February 7th local time (1 a.m. on February 8th Japan time).
The big ceremony was attended by special guests including The Honorable Mr. Mike Beebe, Governor of Arkansas, The Honorable Frank Fogleman, Mayor of Marion, The Honorable William Johnson, Mayor of West Memphis, Mr. Seiichi Sudo, president of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. The plant started operation in October, 2006 as a production plant for Toyota vehicle parts such as axles, and has continued smooth production attaining the cumulative production of 100,000 units (unit conversion) in May last year. At this time, taking advantage of the opportunity of a full-line production system being completed in time to start the production of new parts, HMM once again held an opening ceremony, and in doing so, reported the stable operation of the plant to all people concerned, including those in the local community.
HMM’s desire to contribute to the local community was demonstrated by Hino’s president Kondo at the end of the ceremony as he presented a $10,000 check to Mid South Community College (MSCC) president, Dr. Glen Fenter in support of the College’s Advanced Manufacturing Curriculum. HMM’s president Tanigawa followed this by announcing the establishment of an annual Hino college scholarship, beginning with the 2008-2009 academic year.
With these gestures and a determination to further improve the production activities of the plant, Hino group demonstrated its will to continue setting a good example to the world while contributing to the development of its local community and customers for many years to come.
