Team Completes a Stage in the Mountains Near Cordoba

Car 2 Posts a High Ranking of 15th Overall for the SS.
Car 1 Also Completes a Day of Cautious Racing.

On January 15, contestants raced on a 353km SS in the mountains in northern Cordoba, and then were to take a 242km liaison to La Rioja. The SS featured some hard rocky surfaces, with ups and downs that took them to elevations approaching 2000m. While the risk of getting stuck was minimal, the course was challenging in its own way. HINO TEAM SUGAWARA's Car 2 piloted by Teruhito Sugawara and Hiroyuki Sugiura completed this day with no problems, finishing at 15th overall and top in the Under 10-litre class, which brings its accumulated ranking to 19th overall and top in the Under 10-litre class. By now, Car 2 has established a comfortable lead in the top position of its class, and much of the attention is now being given to how it will do in the overall Trucks category as the rally heads into the crucial stages in the second half of the race.

Meanwhile, Car 1, which has been plagued by overheating, was thoroughly inspected by Hino mechanics the previous night, who implemented various measures to counter the problem. This day, the crew drove the truck cautiously and finished the SS at 54th overall and 9th in the class. This brings their accumulated ranking to 32nd overall and 5th in the class.

This day, the Ttruckscategory started after the Cars category. As of this writing at 9:30 pm, neither of the trucks have arrived at the bivouac in La Rioja, which is another 242km away from the end of the SS via a liaison. At the bivouac in "Autodromode La Rioja" - the same racing track that has been used in previous races - Hino mechanics are setting up for servicing work in preparations for the challenging courses the trucks will be facing in the latter half of the race from January 16 onwards. In particular, Car 1 will need further measures to counter overheating.
