(1) Report on demo runs to commemorate a newly installed service center at a Hino dealer (Vladivostok, Russia)

25 April: A demo run by truck no. 1 (photo) which is to race in the Dakar rally was held in commemoration of a newly installed service center at Sumotori, a Hino dealer in Vladivostok, Russia.

The ceremony was attended by over 50 local media representatives, and it was evident that the HINO brand commanded excellent brand awareness thanks to its reputation in the Paris-Dakar Rally. Scenes of the demo run were aired on nationwide Russian TV. In addition - as a clear sign of the growing relationship between Japan and Russia, as signaled by the advancement of Japanese corporations into the Russian market, the inauguration of a Japan-St. Petersburg flight, and meetings between leaders of the two countries - the 26 April airing of NHK TV's "Ohayo Nippon" featured a segment titled "A Truck Maker Advances into Russia" in which there was a symbolic airing of a video of the demo run.
